Cisco

General Information

Station to Station Calls

Dial the four-digit extension of the party or department you are trying to reach.

Local Calls

Dial 9, 305/786, and the seven-digit telephone number.

Broward Calls

Dial 9, 1, 954 and the seven-digit number.

Toll-Free Calls

Dial 9, 1, and the toll-free number.

Domestic Long Distance Calls

Dial 9, 1, area code and seven-digit telephone number. Wait for tone and then dial your access number.

International Long Distance Calls

Dial 9, 011, country code, city code and telephone number. Wait for tone and then dial your access number.

Personal Long Distance Calls

Long distance service and the use of incoming toll free numbers is restricted to official University business. Personal long distance calls may be made using your own telephone calling card.

Special Instructions for Fax Machines

You must program a pause between the telephone number and the authorization code for the fax to go through properly.

Operator Assistance

The University does not permit the use of outside operators for placing calls.

Call Forwarding

You can forward your incoming calls to another number or to voicemail. If call forwarding is turned on, a Forwarding icon appears on the top line of your display screen. You can choose from a number of forwarding features, including Send All Calls and Call Forward. Remember to enter a 9 first if forwarding to an outside number.

Setting up Call Forwarding

  • From the Phone screen, scroll right to access the Feature menu.
  • Select CFrwd.
  • Press OK to turn call forwarding on or to turn it off if it is already on.
    Note: When you turn on the Call Forwarding feature, you hear a tone prompting you to enter the forwarding number.
  • Enter the number you want to forward your calls to (for off campus, dial 9 and then the seven-digit number you ware forwarding to).
    Note: After you enter the forwarding number, you hear the confirmation tone.

Removing Call Forwarding

  • To turn off call forwarding, from the Phone screen scroll right to access the Features menu.
  • Select CFrwd.
  • Press Select or OK to turn call forwarding off or to turn it on if it is already off.
    Note: When you turn off the Call Forwarding feature, you hear a confirmation tone.

Avaya 9650

Setting up Call Forwarding

  • From the Phone screen, scroll right and then scroll down.
  • Select Call CFrwd.
  • Enter the number to which you want to forward your calls.
  • After you enter the forwarding number, you hear a confirmation tone.
  • Press OK to turn the call forwarding off if it is already on.

Removing Call Forwarding

To turn off call forwarding, press Select or OK to turn call forwarding off or to turn it on if it is already off. When you turn off the Call Forwarding feature, you hear a confirmation tone.

Avaya 9670G

Setting up Call Forwarding

  • Touch Forward to access the mail Forwarding menu.
  • Touch the forwarding feature you want to active or deactivate.
  • When you turn on the Call Forwarding feature, you hear a tone prompting you to enter the forwarding number.
  • Enter the number to which you want to forward your calls.
  • After you enter the forwarding number, you hear a confirmation tone.

Removing Call Forwarding

To turn off call forwarding, touch Forward to turn call forwarding off or to turn it on if it is already off. When you turn off the Call Forwarding feature, you hear a confirmation tone.

Avaya 1608

(Note: You can forward calls only to internal numbers)

Setting up Call Forwarding

  • Press the CFrwd feature button.
    You hear a dial tone prompting you to dial the forwarding number.
  • Dial the number you want to forward your calls to.
    After you dial the number, you head a confirmation tone. The forwarding icon appears on the top line of your phone display, and the green LED next to the feature button turns on.

Removing Call Forwarding

To turn call forwarding off, press the CFrwd feature button.
The forwarding icon no longer appears on the top line of your phone display, and the green LED next to the feature button turns off.

Cisco 7960

Setting up Call Forwarding

  • Press the CFwdAll softkey.  You should hear two beeps.
  • Enter the number to which you want to forward all of your calls, exactly as you would if you were placing a call to that number.

After you enter the number, an animated phone icon with a flashing right arrow appears in the upper-right corner of the LCD.  The LCD screen also displays a message confirming the number or extension to which your calls are being forwarded.

Removing Call Forwarding

  • To cancel call forwarding, press the CFwdAll softkey.

Cisco 7970

Setting up Call Forwarding

  • Press CFwdALL and enter a target number exactly as you would dial it from your phone.

Removing Call Forwarding

  • To cancel call forwarding on your primary line, press CFwdALL.

Cisco 7935

**Call forwarding is not available.

Cisco 7936

Setting up Call Forwarding

  • Press the CFwdALL softkey.  You will hear a confirmation beep.
  • Dial the number to which you want to forward all of your calls.  Dial the number exactly as you would if you were placing a call to that number.
  • Press the pound key (#).

The phone display will update to show that the call is forwarded.

Removing Call Forwarding

  • To cancel call forwarding, press the CFwdALL softkey.

Additional Features

Speed Dialing
Avaya 9620 and 9650

You can assign speed dial numbers to up to 10 people in your contact list. Then when you want to call a speed dial contact, simply press the number you’ve assigned to that person.

  • Press Avaya Menu.
  • Select Options & Settings…
  • Press Select or OK.
  • Scroll to Assign Speed Dial Entries…
    Note: If your telephone does not display the Assign Speed Dial option, your administrator has not made this feature available.
  • Press Select or OK.
  • To unassign an existing speed dial contact, scroll to the line you want to unassign and press Clear. Proceed to the next step to reassign that number.
  • To add a speed dial contact, scroll to the first unassigned line and press the Assign softkey or the OK button.
  • Scroll to the contact you want to assign and press Select or OK.
  • Select the telephone number you want to assign.
  • Press the Save softkey or the OK button.

To transfer a call
Avaya

  • If the line you want it not already highlighted, select the call you want to transfer by pressing the line button or Aux button or by scrolling to the call.
  • Press/Touch Transfer.
  • Dial the telephone number, or call the person from the Contact list, or call the person from the Call Log list.
  • Press Complete to transfer the call.

Cisco 7960

  • During a call, press the Trnsfer softkey.  This puts the call on hold.
  • Dial the number or office extension to which you want to transfer the call.
  • When it rings on the other end, press Trnsfer again.  Or, when the party answers, announce the call and the press Trnsfer.
  • If you are using a handset, hang up.

If the party refuses the call, press the Resume softkey to return to the original call.

Cisco 7970
Blind Transfer

  • From an active call, press Transfer.
  • Enter the target number.
  • Press Transfer again to complete the transfer or EndCall to cancel.

If your phone supports onhook transfer, you can also complete the transfer by hanging up.
Consult Tranfer

  • From an active call, press Transfer.
  • Enter the target number.
  • Wait for the transfer recipient to answer.
  • Press Transfer again to complete the transfer or EndCall to cancel.

If your phone supports onhook transfer, you can also complete the transfer by hanging up.

Cisco 7935

  • While on a call, press the Transfer softkey.  This places the call on hold.
  • Dial the number to which you want to transfer the call.
  • When you hear ringing, press the Transfer softkey again, or when the party answers, announce the call and then press the Transfer softkey.

If the call fails to transfer, press the Resume softkey to return to the original call.

Cisco 7936

  • During a call, press the Transfer softkey.
  • Dial the number to which you want to transfer the call.  As soon as you finish dialing the number, the call is transferred and automatically disconnected from the dialing Cisco Unified 7936 IP Phone.

If the transfer fails, press the Resume softkey to return to the original call.
