It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Nikolaus Anton Neyland, survived by his mother Robin Wrobleski and brothers Hans Wrobleski and John Hatfield. Nikolaus passed away unexpectedly on November 19, 2019. With this passing being so sudden, the family is facing an unexpected financial burden. A crowdfunding event has been set up in order to help. Any monies collected in this fund will assist them with all final and future expenses. Your help is greatly appreciated and all proceeds will go towards final and future expenses.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will take place on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 12:00 P.M. – 4:00 P.M. at Serenity Funeral Home, 1450 S. State Road 7 (441), North Lauderdale, Florida 33068 - (954) 306-2124.

Dr. Adnan Daghestani

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Dr. Adnan “Eddie” Daghestani on October 10, 2019. “Eddie”, as he was known by all around, was a Professor of Economy and Finance in the School of Business from 1988 to 2018. He was born in Kuneitra, Quneitra, Syria in 1933. He was well respected and loved by many for his warmth and his caring nature. He will truly be missed.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Lorrice Harris Chambers and Shayla Chambers, who passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2019. Lorrice was the mother of Shanalee Chambers who works in the Payroll department as a Payroll Specialist. Shayla was her younger sister. Funeral services have already taken place. It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Dr. Eduardo Luna, who passed away on April 25, 2019. Dr. Luna was a Professor in the Math and Computer Science department from 1989 to 2008 and served as Chair of the department from 2004 to 2006.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Elsie Wolf Jarvis, who passed away on March 8, 2019. Elsie worked as an Executive Secretary and Administrative Assistant in the School of Adult and Continuing Education (ACE) for 14 years until her retirement in 2002.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 5th at 11:00 am at St. James Catholic Church, 13155 NW 7th Avenue, North Miami, FL 33168. Burial will follow at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Cemetery, 11411 NW 25th Street, Miami, FL 33172.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Dr. Teresa Petrino-Lin, who passed away on January 27, 2019. Dr. Petrino-Lin served as an Associate Professor of Biology within the College of Arts & Sciences.

A native of Tucumán, Argentina, Dr. Teresa Petrino-Lin, a dear friend and colleague, joined the Barry University community in 1993. She earned a doctorate in Biology of Reproduction from Universidad Nacional de Tucumán, completing part of her dissertation at Johns Hopkins University. She then completed postdoctoral training at the University of Florida’s Whitney Laboratory. During the course of her 25 years at Barry, she worked alongside her husband, Dr. Peter Lin, in their reproductive endocrinology research laboratory in the Department of Biology and later became a faculty member teaching both Biology majors and pre-nursing students. She mentored many students in the Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) and Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement (RISE) programs. She also co-directed the Summer Science Research Program (SSRP), exposing high school students to college life and science research, for 20 years. Her life’s work was devoted to sharing her love of scientific inquiry with her students. She is survived by her husband Peter, children Federico and Gabriela and grandchild Isabella.

Her life will be celebrated with a funeral mass on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at 4:00 pm at St. John XXIII Catholic Church, located at 16800 Miramar Parkway, Miramar, FL, 33027.

It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Emiliano Diaz, who passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018. Emiliano is the father of Aida Claro, Director of Financial Aid. It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of Josefina “Fina” Gonzalez, who pass away on February 9, 2017. Fina worked for Barry University for 27 years and served as the head of the Payroll department.

Visitation will be held at Caballero Rivero Westchester Funeral Home located at 8200 SW 40 Street (Bird Road), Miami FL 33155 on February 10th from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm. The burial will be scheduled for February 11th at 2:30 pm at Dade North Memorial Park 1301 Opa-Locka Blvd. Miami, FL 33167

It is with great sadness that we learned of the death of W. Douglas Oglesby, who passed away Saturday, December 3, 2016. Douglas is the grandfather of Pricilla Greene.

It is with deep sadness that the Barry University community announces the loss of Dr. Gualberto Cremades who passed away on August 9, 2016. Dr. Cremades served the University for more than fifteen years, most recently as Professor & Coordinator of Graduate Sport, Exercise, and Performance Psychology in the Sport and Exercise Sciences department.

A memorial service for Dr. Cremades will be held in the Cor Jesu Chapel in September. Details to follow.

Memorial Service for Cesar Odio

It is with deep sadness that the Barry University community announces the loss of Cesar Odio who passed away on July 20, 2016. Cesar served the University for more than twenty-one years, most recently as the Assistant Athletic Director in the Intercollegiate Athletics department. Prior, Cesar served as an Instructor & Head Coach of Men’s Basketball.

A memorial service for Cesar will be held on Saturday, July 30th in the Cor Jesu Chapel at 12:00 noon. Following the service, there will be a celebration of Cesar's life in the Health & Sports Center gymnasium from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. Lunch will be provided.
